Gipsytrip is a unique combination of travelling and accommodation on the island of Tenerife
The island of Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands situated in the Atlantic ocean. According to the original inhabitants, the Guanches, the word Tenerife meant "snowy mountain", which refers to the top of Pico del Teide, which is located right in the centre of the island. It is the highest mountain in both Tenerife and the whole of Spain. In the winter months, you can experience a breathtaking view, when the white blanket covers Pico del Teide and thus Tenerife gets its name. Pico del Teide divides the island into two different parts: the green north and the dry south. The humid north is beautifully green and serves as a home for varied tropical vegetation. In contrast, the south is very parched and rocky. Tenerife will surely impress you with its diversity, you only have to drive a few kilometers and the landscape is suddenly changing. The Anaga Mountains, Teide National Park, Masca Valley, Orotava Valley and Teno area are certainly unforgettable. The island is also very unique for its volcanic origin. The last volcano erupted in 1909, it's called Chinyero and you can go around this volcano during a pleasant 7 km long trek.
In addition to beautiful nature, the island of Tenerife has a lot to offer. Whether it's the number sports (water or land) you can do here or the beautiful beaches, natural swimming pools in the cliffs, good food, delicious local wine, historic centers and also a very interesting history.
The advantage of the Canary Islands is the mild climate and small temperature fluctuations during the year. Thanks to this, the island is a perfect holiday destination both in summer and in winter. Come and see for yourself. 🙂
